1972 Triumph Trident Triumph V

tb20080908.jpg 1972 Triumph Trident Triumph V

Clean, restored 1972 Trident V. Engine new throughout, freshly ground crank, new bore/pistons, all new bearings, fresh paint. Later model 5-speed gears (not the very early warrenty-replacement parts). Run very little, barely broken in, starts right up, purrs like a kitten, runs crisp and strong. Original points, some of us consider this not a bug but a feature. New battery, new Avon tires. Some frame accessory parts powder-coated, such as footpeg brackets, brake pedal, etc, including chainguard and seat pan. But the main frame and swingarm is the original black paint, in very good condition.

A few warts - front brake not very effective, this vintage conical front hub was not their best. Original choke installed, relatively easy to start, but when warmed up, on throttle down the idle races a bit before it settles down. Removing the choke makes it idle better, but starting involves more ticke-tickle-kick-kick. I've seen another bike with the choke cable routed differently, this might improve things. Clutch drags a bit, just enough to make finding neutral at a stop light tricky. Coasting with hands off, seems to pull to one side a little, but the forks/tripletree looks very straight, fork tubes parallel. Non-original mufflers, general lookalike (somewhat) after-market. Some evidence of rust in the tank, original petcocks have their fine screen filters rotted away, but the tank has been cleaned and fuel is flowing clean. Small dent in gas tank on one side, not visible in photos. Spot on upper edge of left side cover where seat hinge dings the paint, visible in photos. Non-original Smiths gauges, not sure which model these units with the blue-white arrow came from. » Continue reading "1972 Triumph Trident Triumph V"

This is a 10,000 original mile T150V Trident 750cc rt. hand shift 5 speed. It has been in heated storage for most of its 35 year life. It is totally stock and totally original as the pics. show. We are listing this bike for its second owner, as he has decided to sell it. We inspected the bike and it is in excellent condition and runs like new. The only thing we saw was a scuff on the front fender, at some point in its life it must have tipped on its side. Overall we were amazed at the condition of the paint, aluminum and chrome! We believe this bike needs only minor detailing, and is ready to ride or show. The owner is avaliable for questions @ cell: 563-249-2837 ask for Terry. Although we are a dealer, the bike is being sold by the owner. It is being sold AS-IS, and it is located 150 miles west of Chicago, Il. on US Hwy. 30, at the Mississippi River, in Fulton, Il. We expect winning bidder to pay $1000.00 deposit within 48 hours of auction close, with ballance due within 7 days of auction end. If you cannot pick the bike up within 10 days, please let us know and we are willing to work with you, as we want a happy buyer!
